Dr. Behnam Abbasian is the Founder, President, and Chief Technology Officer of BioFerScience and 519Vets Inc., based in Southwestern Ontario. A veterinarian and microbiologist by training, he brings over 12 years of experience in research and development within the animal health industry.

He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree internationally and completed a Master of Science in Microbiology at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University in Canada. His academic and professional journey reflects a strong commitment to advancing animal health through scientific innovation.

Behnam is best known for developing a pioneering bacterial microencapsulation technology—engineered to protect probiotic bacteria from the harsh environmental conditions commonly found on farms. Guided by the principle that probiotics must be tailored to the specific physiological needs of animals, he has led the development of species-specific probiotic formulations for both ruminants and monogastric animals.

He is the inventor of a U.S. patent in the field of probiotics and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in veterinary medicine and microbiology. His work continues to drive innovation in sustainable animal health through cutting-edge research and biotechnology.
